About Carlos Calvet

Carlos Calvet

1928: Born in Lisbon

1944: Begins to work in painting. Graduated in architecture from the Porto School of Fine Arts, his activity also includes painting, fotografia e cinema.

1947:   Begins to exhibit his works.

1949:  Becomes interested in Surrealism and participates in the exhibition “Os Surrealistas”, at the Pathé Baby Salon, Lisbon.

1959 to today:   Held 36 individual exhibitions and participated in 50 group exhibitions, in Portugal and abroad.

1968:   Receives the “Criticism Award” (Soquil).

1970:   “Honorable Mention” - Mobil Art Exhibition, SNBA, in Lisbon.
 

1973:   “1st Prize” Modern Art Salon, in Luanda.

1984:   Awarded at the exhibition “1984, is the Future already today?”, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, CAM, in Lisbon.

2014: Year of his death.
