About Francisco Aritzia

1943 : Born on September 7 in Santiago de Chile.

1962-66:   He studied drawing, painting and engraving at the Chilean School of Fine Arts in Santiago.

1968-70 : Works in Paris with a grant from the French government in engraving and painting workshops with Maître Couteau and the painter Gustave Singier at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

1970 Lives and works in Bologna, Italy and Paris, France.

1972 Returns to Chile in September and works as a cultural monitor at the Casa da Cultura in Chuquicamata. Paint a mural in the Officers' Room of the Calama regiment.

1973 In December he returned to France.

1974 :  He did an internship at the Museum of L'Abbaye de la Sante Croix in Sables d'Olonne, France.

1975 He lives in Portugal, where he collaborates with filmmaker Raul Ruiz in 4 films, making panels, drawings, paintings and small roles as an actor.

1989-91:  Receives a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to carry out serigraphy works.

1987-97:  He teaches at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon.

1995-97: Teaches “Debates and Aesthetics” at the Espírito Santo Foundation (School of Decorative Arts) in Lisbon.

1998 :   Participates in Expo '98 in Lisbon with a tile mural based on an original by Roberto Matta.

1998 - 2002:   Worked as Cultural Attaché at the Chilean Embassy in Portugal.
